Aldeburgh named best UK holiday destination in September

A town on the Suffolk coast has been named as the best destination in the UK for a holiday in September.

Consumer champion Which? ranked the best places across the world to visit when the peak summer rush is over, but the weather is still warm enough for sightseeing.

The list included the best short and long haul destinations as well as crowning Aldeburgh as the top place for a UK staycation.

The historic town was also highly rated by Which? in a ranking of the UK’s best seaside town and scored five stars for its scenery and peace and quiet.

The guide recommended visitors to Aldeburgh “buy locally caught smoked fish from shacks huddled under the sea wall or splash out on lobster and chips at seafront restaurant The Suffolk”.

In September the annual food and drink festival, which was named one of the country’s best by Condé Nast Traveller, is held in nearby Snape.

The Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival returns to Snape Maltings on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29.

The festival will be filled with local produce stalls, cooking demonstrations and masterclasses to get involved with.
